Health Highlight: Your Responsibilities

When it comes to taking care of themselves, Pennsylvania patients overwhelmingly say the buck stops with them.  In a poll conducted in 2011, the overwhelming majority of participants – 93 percent – say they are most responsible for taking care of their own health, while only 7 percent said either their doctors are or they weren’t sure.

    A 2012 Patient Poll conducted by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) found that 90 percent of participants say they have a good understanding when they leave a doctor’s visit on what they need to do next. In other words, they know what the plan is for them to live a healthy life.
